Summary

Joining the club requires that you pay dues, sign a hold harmless agreement, and then attend an orientation session.  The orientation walks you through the range rules, which are in place to put everyone on the same page when it comes to firearms safety.

Attending orientation annually is required for the first 3 years of your membership.  The hold harmless agreement must be submitted annually.   If you are not required to attend orientation, you are encouraged to review the current annual range update.

You may pay dues by one of these means:

1.  Sign up on line, and pay by credit card, belowThe on line system is shut down until the new web site is operational.  Joining and renewing must be done by paper application.

2.  Send your completed application with your dues (check or money order) by US Mail.  The address is on the application, which you can download at the bottom of this page; click on "Join/Renew By Paper Application".  Applications are also available at the range, in an information box outside the main gate, and at any orientation session.

3.  Come to an orientation session with your dues; we have the applications and hold harmless agreements there for you to complete. Please bring your dues as cash (exact amount only, PLEASE), check, or money order.  We currently don't accept credit cards at those sessions.

Accounts must be requested. See "Members Login" on the left.

If you want to renew/join on line, you must log on first.

Joining As A New Member?

1.  The membership fee is for a household membership.  The name on the form is the primary user, and all other household members are range users.  If you are single, you are the primary user.  Range users must be legally capable of handling firearms under state law.

b.  All users must pay their dues and attend range orientation before the card is issued AND activated.

c.  The primary user must be a member of the National Rifle Association.  You may be either a full member or an associate member (no magazines). If you are already a member, please include your NRA number.  If not, you can join through the club.

Testimonials

I’ve taken the ‘Women on Target’ course and highly recommend it for females of any age.  It certainly instilled some confidence in me, handling firearms. The instructors are knowledgeable, kind and patient. The course is informative, it’s fun and it’s empowering. If you have the opportunity, take the course

 Pistol Bay Ceremony

Jan Anderson dedicates the pistol bays to Steve

On Saturday, September 30th, club members gathered at the range to dedicate the pistol bays to the memory of Steve Anderson, a long time club member who passed away in March of this year.

Steve is fondly remembered as a friend, mentor, and dedicated supporter of the club.  He worked many events and orientations as an instructor, assisting with the paperwork, or simply helping where needed.

Steve spent many days at the range, keeping the grounds and equipment in good condition.  When he became too ill to work in the field, he kept the gate card system updated, and assisted in tracking membership renewals.

Jan Anderson was present at the ceremony, and helped unveil the memorial sign.   Afterwards, memories of Steve and his activities were recalled while the participants enjoyed hot dogs.

Just look at those pistol bays!  As was once a popular saying, "You've come a long way!"

 Target Damage

This is the steel target on the rifle range's 100 yard berm. Those holes are clearly from someone using a .30 caliber rifle with high velocity ammunition, and probably armor piercing as well. That's irresponsible behavior, and not in accordance with the range rules.

These targets come out of your club dues. And now this one needs to be repaired, which means taking it off the range, so that responsible members can't use it. This is a popular feature on the rifle range, and we returned steel to the 100 and 200 yard berms after having removed those targets for a similar problem. We get a lot of positive feedback from the responsible shooters about them.

Armor piercing ammunition is not allowed on the range. And it's bad practice to use .30 caliber ammunition on the steel targets closer than the 300 yard berm.

Respect your range, and don't destroy the targets; they will last a long time if we take care of them.

New Membership Plan and Dues Increase Proposed

The board has been discussing a new membership plan, including an increase of dues, for a few meetings. This has been sent out with the President's Letter several times as well.  The final proposal was completed at the June meeting, and will be voted on in August or September.

You can read the final proposal by clicking here to bring it up as a PDF.

Please read this plan, as it impacts every member and range user.  The plan is consistent with the current practices, but provides for more options.  Some of the changes include:

    • There are individual and family memberships
    • Range users must purchase a gate card
    • The $35 initiation and late fee will be rescinded

Target Backstop

One of the Gun Safety Rules is "Know your target and what is beyond.", which can be found here along with other safety rules.  Consider these examples below: in one case, projectiles will clearly impact an appropriate backstop.  The other case would result in an obvious safety hazard.  In short - never place targets on top of the berm.  Thank you.

No Armor Piercing Ammunition

UPDATE: There’s a new sign on the Action Range, as you can see below. But it applies to the entire range.

Take a few moments to review the range rules before you shoot. Thank you!
