Nice day compared to what's been going on weather wise lately! 31 folks joined us -- with 5 of them Greenhorns. Glad you could join us and we hope to see you again soon! Our only Clean Match Award goes to Crisco -- Great Job! Hey Granpa had a "dang it" match -- only missed one! Shalako provided us with some fun yet challenging stages, and then won the whole thing even getting a procedural on the first stage!

Underwear Day (Labor Day Weekend) is beginning to fill up already. If you plan to shoot and get some great Dutch Oven cooking, be sure to get your application in soon!

New club around: Join the Pataha Rustlers the 4th Sunday of the month at 1 pm. Hollar if you need directions!

SUMMER HOURS are in effect: 8:30 am Sign-in and 9 am Mandatory Safety Meeting prior to shooting.

Please help us help you... Show up ON Time (or a little early -- well before the Shooter's Meeting), help your posse in whatever way you can and let's all have a lot of fun!!

A Little Dry Gulch Desperado History

The Dry Gulch Desperados had another record year in 2005 averaging 28 shooters per month. That’s an indication of the growing interest in this exciting sport. We are drawing shooters from Oregon, Idaho and Washington; some have come as far as Klamath Falls to shoot with us.

Many of you may have noticed the “new” construction on the Cowboy range. We are beginning to build the dream of all cowboy action clubs, our very own “Cowboy Town.” We have one building donated by our gracious landlord, Jan Bledsoe and moved out there last summer. We really appreciate Jan donating the building. And thanks do not even begin to cover our appreciation for Shalako Tucker, GD Rimrock, J. Whil Liquers and Dry Gulch Bandit for the 13 hours they spent that day moving the building in one piece. And, let’s not forget Diamond Deb & Pinto Annie who were there to lend moral support which according to the men is defined as “be quiet and stay out of the way unless you see someone bleeding.” It really was quite an interesting day and we appreciate all the work they did. The newest construction is going to be a Blacksmith Shop/Wagon Works and a place we can shoot under cover. Shalako Tucker & Pinto Annie have spent a lot of time working on that when the weather was way too cold for anyone to be outside. We do appreciate their efforts on behalf of the Desperados.

If anyone has any lumber or buildings they would like to donate to the construction of our “Cowboy Town” please contact Ed Kemmerer (Shalako) at 509-382-8926 or 509-520-2789 or Gary Clark (Rimrock) at 509-394-2418 or 509-301-1211.

Our annual shoot, Underwear Day, was a huge success despite it falling on the first week-end the valley had seen rainfall in several months. We had 45 shooters and about 70 people for the famous “Dutch Oven Lunch”. The first annual “Stick Horse Competition” was a huge success and everyone really enjoyed it. Approximately 20 shooters showed up with their own decorated Stick Horse and there were some real beauties. GD Rimrock and his horse “Gold Dust” were the winners of the contest.

We were also proud to present to Shalako Tucker AKA Edwin Kemmerer, the 2007 Desperado of the Year award. This award has been presented since 2003 to the person our Desperados believe most exemplifies the top “Desperado”. Previous years winners have been Diamond Deb & GD Rimrock, Dry Gulch Bandit, and Hey Grandp.

We shoot the 1st Saturday of each month, April – October sign up is at 8:30 and shooting starts at 9:00, November – March sign up is at 9:30 and shooting starts at 10:00. We invite anyone who’s interested to come out and join us. The cost to shoot is $10.00 and $5.00 for Juniors (age 14-16), Buckaroos & Buckarettes (13 and under) are Free, winter months November – March are at ½ price (Juniors shoot free in the Winter!). For more information contact Gary or Debbie Clark at 509-394-2418 or Ed & LeAnn Kemmerer at 509-382-8926 or 509-520-8590. For winter shoots information November – March, please contact ‘Shalako’ aka Ed Kemmerer at 509-382-8926.
